Jonathan is a pastor. He's also the guy pulling your shot. Campers Coffee Co runs out of a small Olympia space on Martin Way East with a Winnebago-meets-warehouse interior that customers single out as unlike anything else in town, and a stated purpose of supporting the local homeless community. That mission is the through-line of the operation. Candles and community goods sit on shelves next to coffee, and Jonathan himself tends to be the one chatting you up at the counter while he steams milk.
The drinks lean creative and seasonal. A spiced apple cider chai gets returning orders, and a root beer drink turns up on the seasonal board when the weather warms. A straightforward latte is on the menu too, though one customer flagged paying eight dollars for one with almond milk, which is worth knowing going in. Prices reflect the small-business margins, not the highway-strip-mall address.
The space is small and cozy when it's clicking. It can also misfire. One recent visitor walked in to a strong cigarette-smoke smell, and posted hours are not always the hours the door is open. If you're driving in from out of town, call first. The Winnebago-warehouse aesthetic photographs well, but the room itself is small enough that any off-smell carries.
Who it suits: Olympia locals who want to back a faith-rooted small business and talk to the owner directly while they get their coffee. Regulars who like the idea of a coffee shop with a purpose beyond ticket-sales come here for the conversation as much as the chai. Less the move if you need reliable hours, a quiet sit-down cafe environment, or if you're sensitive to off-smells in a tight room. The point here was never primarily the coffee experience as a polished retail product. It's the purpose behind the counter, and Jonathan's willingness to stand there himself.
