The garage door is the tell. Roll it up and Junction Roastery & Social Club becomes one room with the sidewalk, the tire swing out front, the dog water bowls, and a patio that fills with kids and remote workers by mid-morning. Inside, local artwork covers the walls of the shared studio property, board games and card decks stack on the tables, and the room reads more Eugene or inner-Portland than central Oregon. Regulars call it the hippest spot in Redmond, and the second location opening soon suggests they aren't wrong.
The signature drink is a cardamom latte topped with rose, and it earns the billing. In autumn the pumpkin latte rotates in, and on special days a shaken bergamot espresso shows up on the chalkboard. Pastry comes from Lousy Sisters Bakery (the signature coffee cake and a chocolate banana bread that has its defenders), plus a breakfast sandwich built on an everything bagel. One regular has called Lousy Sisters the worst pastry in central Oregon, which is harsh but worth knowing before you commit.
The room works hard for a lot of people at once. Free WiFi and plenty of outlets keep laptops humming. ADA parking and a ramp make it accessible for seniors. Families bring kids straight to the games. Dog owners get the patio with water bowls and a tire swing the toddlers will fight over. The trade-off with the garage-door front is real. With the door open the room runs hot in summer and flies wander in, which won't bother most people but might bother you.
It's a coffee shop that wants to be a meeting place, not a drive-through. Cardamom latte, a card game, the dog at your feet, somebody's painting on the wall behind you. The expansion is a sign other Redmond locals have caught on. Get there before the second location opens and the original gets even busier.
