Afterglow Coffee Cooperative

Afterglow Coffee Cooperative is a worker-owned roaster and café in Scott's Addition, Richmond. Every staff member is an owner, so there's no tipping, and labor is built into the prices. As of January 11, 2026, the café is wifi-free. The room has tall ceilings, lots of light and plants, and it fills up on busy mornings. The bar seat by the big window lets you watch the espresso machine and the roastery in back. Parking is on the street.

The Pandan Matcha is the signature. The iced honey oat latte is a regular order, the iced chai is ginger-forward and not too sweet, and there's a clean cappuccino and a caffeine-free moringa latte. Wednesday to Saturday, there's food from local vendors like Baltik's Bagels and B-side, plus Leftie Lee's pastries. Try the everything bagel with smoked trout dip. Wine comes out Friday and Saturday nights.
