Baba Boudan's Espresso

Baba Boudan's Espresso in Fayetteville is tiny, cash-only and roasts its own coffee. Use the ATM inside and you'll get free chocolate-covered coffee beans. There are three tables inside, a few picnic-style seats outside and a drive-thru many regulars use on the way to campus or work. With roasting bags all around, it's laid-back and gets lively when it's full.

The Mocha Mexicana is the signature. The latte and espresso are solid too. Biscuits and gravy are served on Saturdays only. The owner's award-winning cookies and pastries rotate through the case, like the raspberry deluxe muffin, peanut butter cookie and shortbread. Bring cash.
