Bean About Town

Bean About Town is behind the perfume counters at DFS Galleria in Waikiki. It's a round room with a low ceiling and a nature mural overhead, cushioned seats spaced for privacy, and no background music. Owner Olivier runs it, and the menu is printed in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.

Olivier sources his own beans, including 100% Kona Red Bourbon and SL34 from a single estate, plus Panama Gesha when he can get it. Order the Hawaiian pour-over for the Kona, or the Gesha pour-over. The oat milk Shakerato is the house signature, and there's an oat flat white, an oat mocha and a rose latte. The canelé is house-made, with a crackly caramelized crust.

One regular called it the best work spot in Waikiki. There's a 12.75% dine-in service charge. To find it, walk past the perfume counters and follow the curve of the floor to the mural.
