Better Buzz Coffee Hillcrest

Better Buzz's Hillcrest café is a big, multi-level space with high ceilings, exposed brick, warm wood and lots of plants. A mezzanine overlooks the main floor, with booths and communal tables. Their site says they're a San Diego small-batch roaster of organic and specialty coffees.

The "Best Drink Ever" is their signature americano with a twist. The Horchata Latte and drinks with house-made flavored cold foams are popular, and the Rose Water Tea Latte is the non-coffee pick. For food, there's avocado toast, breakfast sandwiches on fresh croissants and house-made pastries. Try the waffle breakfast sandwich or the almond butter toast.

Weekends get busy. Outlets are limited and the wifi can be spotty if you're planning to work. You can buy their beans to take home.
