Black Kahawa Coffee

Black Kahawa Coffee is a Columbus, Ohio roaster specializing in East African coffees. Its founder spent more than a decade roasting coffee in East Africa. While living in Tanzania with a faith-based humanitarian community, he co-founded a small roasting company that taught women to hand-roast coffee.

The name honors Wamama Kahawa, a cafe that was a community gathering place in Dar es Salaam. Black Kahawa pairs complementary East African coffees in light, medium and dark roasts. Its roastery and bar is at 2 E Broad St. in downtown Columbus, and coffee and subscriptions are sold online.
