Black Rose Coffee (Delivery Only)

Black Rose is a Portland delivery-only operation run out of SE 34th. No storefront. No walk-in. The roaster, known to customers as Moose, drops local orders off himself, occasionally with a handwritten note tucked into the bag, which sounds like the kind of detail a marketing team would invent and doesn't read that way coming from the people on the receiving end. Small Portland operations get to make moves like this; bigger ones can't.

The lineup leans dark and includes a decaf range that decaf drinkers don't usually get this much consideration on. Midnight Moose decaf is the obvious starting point and earns its name on the bag. The Thailand Blend covers the dark end with a region that doesn't show up on most American roaster shelves. There's a roaster's-choice subscription if you want to hand the wheel over to Moose for a few months, and decaf cold-brew bags for the people who've been quietly waiting for someone to make those.

Flexibility on order changes turns up often, which matters when a small operation is the one taking the call. You can adjust the standing order, swap a bag, skip a week, and the conversation is with a person who knows your name.
