About

Brew Peddler makes its own syrups. Blood orange, caramel apple, hazelnut, rotating builds for the seasonals. That is the line that separates this small South Hill shop from most of Spokane's chain options and a fair number of the independents too. The room is small, modern, classy in a not-overworked way, with high-top chairs and limited seating and local art on the walls. Parking outside is easy. One regular caught a dirty table on a visit, which is the kind of mention worth carrying into your expectations.

The order is built around the syrup program. An iced latte with the house-made blood orange and the Ethiopian blend is one of the more interesting drinks in this part of Spokane. A matcha latte that customers will tell you is the best in town. Mocha. Cappuccino. An oat milk latte with whichever seasonal house syrup is current. The pastry case and small food selection round out a short visit, and the latte art rewards looking before you sip. The Ethiopian blend running underneath the seasonal builds is part of why those drinks work; the syrup gets credit but the bean is doing the load-bearing.

What Brew Peddler is not is an all-day workspace. The seating is tight, the vibe wants you settled for about an hour, and the energy in the room flows toward conversation rather than head-down work. Quality-focused coffee drinkers do well here. Parents with kids find it accommodating; the room handles small humans without the host glaring at the parents. The take-away cup works for anyone who wanted the drink without committing to the chair.

Spokane's South Hill has earned a real coffee bar in Brew Peddler, and a small one at that, run by a family that decided the syrup-making and the bean-sourcing were both worth doing themselves. That kind of vertical attention shows in the cup. Show up for an hour, get the blood orange iced latte with the Ethiopian blend, look at the local art on the walls while you drink it, and let the room do the rest.
