Bryant's Brewing

Bryant's Brewing operates out of a four-car garage on a lakeside property in Hartland, Maine. You pull into what looks like a residential driveway. The seating is on the waterfront. Boats and Seadoos pull up to the dock. There are eleven beers on tap inside the garage and the same operation roasts its own coffee, which is the kind of combined nano-brewery and roastery setup that only exists because the people running it wanted it to exist.

The maple latte uses local Maine syrup, and it's the order. Cold brew is the warm-weather pick. The cappuccino is the more traditional move. On the beer side, the strawberry ale and the honey lager are the gateway drinks. The stout covers the cooler end of the season.

The whole-bean coffee goes home with you if you want to extend the experience past the dock visit. The atmosphere is genuinely peaceful: open lakeside seating, the sound of boats, the kind of Maine summer scene people pay rental prices for and Bryant's gives you with the price of a beer.

Here's the real flaw, and it's been a persistent enough complaint that it's worth knowing before you make the drive. There is no proper bathroom. There is a porta-potty with no handwashing sink. For a place that serves food and drink lakeside, that's a meaningful gap, and some customers say it's the reason they haven't been back. Parking is also limited, which compounds the issue on busy summer days.

If you're already at the lake, on a boat, or willing to make the trip and prepared for the bathroom situation, Bryant's is one of those places that justifies the drive out. It is what a real small-town lakeside operation looks like before anybody smooths the rough edges. If a porta-potty ruins your day, choose a different stop.
