Café Zamora

Café Zamora on SE Powell in Portland pours farmer-owned Guatemalan coffee from Hector's home village, roasted in Portland. Sales help support the village. Hector and his wife Jackie run the shop together, and it's been featured on a Samantha Brown episode. Inside, it feels like a living room, with a couch, coffee table, a small fountain and kids' books. Out back, there's a grassy patio.

The single-origin Guatemalan whole beans are the reason to visit if you brew at home. There's mushroom coffee, and the cinnamon honey butter pastry is the regulars' favorite. The vanilla latte and chai are solid, and you can ask for an off-menu cortado.
