Cafenea

CAFENEA (also listed as Cafenea Artisan Roasting Co.) is a family-owned, small-batch roastery in Kerrville, in the Texas Hill Country, run by roaster Gabe Balas. It roasts almost entirely organic, single-origin beans. Blends are rare, and in the roastery's words, "when we do, they are notable." Coffee is roasted to order rather than ahead of demand, and online orders and subscriptions ship within two business days.

Beans are roasted at the shop at 235 Keith Blvd, where pickup is by appointment. Most visitors will want the drive-through at 141 W Water St., Suite B, which opens early on weekdays. It has no indoor seating. Hill Country-inspired lattes like the Guadalupe (brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon), the Longhorn (caramel, hazelnut) and the Hill Country Honey are the local favorites, and you can order beans to pick up the next day.
