Caffeina runs multiple Boise-area shops (the original on State Street, the Overland branch, others), and Overland is the drive-thru variant for the commuter and the dog walker. Pup cups and biscuits at the window. Plant-and-antique decor inside, garage-sale eclectic in places.
The drinks lineup runs broad. The breakfast burrito (vegan or meat) is the food order to know. One regular called it the best in Boise. The chocolate almond croissant rotates through. Mocha. Latte. Hot cocoa. Avocado toast. Iced cold brew. Pour-overs are available, which is rarer than it should be for a drive-thru-equipped roastery. Beer is also on the menu after a certain hour.
The atmosphere swings between drive-thru efficiency and cafe lingering. Lots of plants. Antique-vintage decor. Big windows letting in natural light. Some seating reads garage-sale eclectic. The room can run tight when busy.
A few real catches. Drive-thru wait times stretch past 20 minutes on bad days. Matcha-making has been flagged for clumps and underdissolution. Drink quality runs inconsistent across locations, with what works on State Street sometimes missing on Overland. The peppermint mocha doesn't appear until December.
The customer base: Boise locals and Boise State students, road-trippers passing through on the Oregon-to-Utah route, dog owners, drive-thru regulars, customers waiting for hair appointments at neighboring businesses. The Overland location holds its own in a Boise market that includes Push & Pour and Common Grounds. Caffeina knows where it sits.
