Nick, the owner, will walk a beginner through home brewing if you ask, and that is not a marketing line. Caspin Coffee on Highway 707 in Myrtle Beach is a small grab-and-go space with low couches, coffee tables, Spanish moss on the trees out front, and a stated faith-based mission for anyone who cares either way. Espresso beans are roasted in-house, which puts the bar above the average coastal coffee spot before the drinks even land. Dairy-free milks are stocked without making a thing of it.
The drink menu skews toward flavored lattes done with intent: blackberry white chocolate, dirty chai, a seasonal fall latte that people return for, plus macarons on the pastry side. There is also a creator space and pottery offerings, which makes the place part coffee shop, part workshop, part neighborhood drop-in for parents with small kids. One customer wandered in with a one-year-old and was welcomed, which says enough about the room.
The creator and pottery side of the operation is the unusual move. Most coffee shops add merch and call it a day. Caspin built room for people to make things. That changes the audience in subtle ways. You see parents with kids in for a Saturday afternoon project. You see solo customers with a sketchbook and a latte. The vibe lands closer to a hobbyist studio with a coffee bar than to a strict cafe.
What it is not is a place to work. Seating is limited, the music runs loud, and one customer was direct about it: looking for a place to work, but it wasn't here. Take that seriously if your visit depends on opening a laptop and getting through email. The shop has built itself around the quick stop, the conversation, the pottery class, the macaron and the dirty chai on the way to the beach. On those terms, Nick and the team deliver something specific to this stretch of the Grand Strand, with a hospitality streak that smaller coffee shops sometimes lose as they grow. The dairy-free options are a small kindness that locals notice.
