The roaster runs in view of the cafe. Coffee Factory in Derry sits in Shaw's plaza next to Pinkerton Academy, where owner David roasts beans where customers can watch, hangs local art on the walls, and hosts open mic nights on the last Friday of every month. Longtime staff Kevin, Gladys, and Michelle know the regulars by order, which gives the place a small-town familiarity even though it is in a strip-mall plaza.

The room reads as an 80s-vibe sanctuary. Comfy armchairs, bags of coffee beans creating the ambiance, spacious, quiet, clean. It is the kind of cafe interior that people describe as a sanctuary rather than a coffee shop, partly because the seating is generous and partly because David has put genuine thought into how the space feels. The art rotation gives the walls something to do.

The mocha shaken espresso is the headline drink and the order to start with on a first visit. The Greenhouse breakfast sandwich is the food anchor. The Grinch Heart flavor shot, a green mint and chocolate combination, is the seasonal novelty that gets ordered for the name and stays for the taste. The Gingerbread Latte covers the winter sweet lane, and the raspberry white chocolate scone and chocolate croissant handle the pastry side. The open mic on the last Friday brings in a younger crowd, including Pinkerton teens, and changes the room's energy for that one night.

One caveat for filter drinkers: only light and dark roasts, no medium, which is a deliberate roasting choice but worth flagging if you live in the middle. Outlets are limited, so remote workers should plan around an arrival window and not count on a corner spot. The bathroom lacks changing tables, which parents with infants will want to know in advance. Pinkerton students, artists displaying their work on the wall, remote workers willing to share an outlet, and open-mic teens all find their spot. David's hands are visibly on every part of the operation.
