COFFEE LAB EVANSTON

Coffee Lab Evanston is across from the Noyes L stop, and it's a favorite study spot for Northwestern students. It's a cozy, bohemian room with soft lighting and rotating local art, plus lots of outlets and outdoor seats where you can watch the trains go by. The wifi can be patchy.

It's also an Asian bakery, with Filipino, Japanese and Korean baked goods from family recipes. The ube latte is the signature drink: purple, sweet and nutty. The black sesame latte is the other one to try. For pastries, get the bibingka or ensaymada. They've recently added Filipino dinner plates too.

The baristas are skilled, and the latte art is a nice touch.
