About

The decaf is called False Life. That's a Dungeons and Dragons spell, and once you notice the reference the rest of the lineup makes sense. Homebrew Coffee is run by Laura and Kelly, an indie roasting operation that themes its bean names around tabletop gaming, and the people who order it tend to order it for gaming sessions.

The False Life decaf is the bag people talk about, mostly because it doesn't taste like a decaf. Decaf drinkers know the standard betrayal: flat, hollow, vegetal. This one isn't that. After that, customers reach for the apple-brown sugar dark roast and, when the season calls for it, a hot chocolate that turns into its own small holiday tradition.

The ordering experience matters here as much as the beans. You pick roast level (light, medium, dark) and grind at checkout, which is the kind of customization a tabletop crowd appreciates and a casual drinker probably doesn't think to ask for. The shop is online-only. No cafe, no sit-down, no single-origin micro-lot rotation to argue about. If you want a place to read on a Sunday, this is not it. If you want a decaf that holds up across a long D&D session and bag names that earn a laugh from anyone at the table, this is the operation built for that exact audience.
