About

A coffee bar on one side, a craft brewery on the other, both run in the same Franklin building that has housed a few breweries before this one. Curio Brewing Company roasts its own beans on site and pulls its own beer through the same taps where guest pours show up, which is a wider scope than most shops attempt. A fair amount of it lands.

The layout reads community shop more than third-wave espresso bar. Front room with the main bar, a back room, a kids play area with toys, two outdoor patios with picnic tables. Minimalist decor, varied seating, mid-morning quiet enough to study in, livelier in the evening when the beer takes over. The Ginger Pig food truck parks in the lot most days, which solves the food question without the building having to run its own kitchen.

Lavender honey latte if you want a signature drink. Espresso and cappuccino for the coffee purists. Kilt the Kat red ale if you are switching modes after lunch. The pigstrami breakfast burrito from the Ginger Pig is the right thing to eat with any of it.

The Vaughn family runs the place and runs it like they live in the neighborhood. Trivia nights. Movie nights. A NYE balloon drop. That tells you what role this building plays for the people around it: not a destination for out-of-towners on a coffee crawl, but the community room with a roaster inside it. The dog-friendly patio gets steady traffic from people who treat this as their default spot.

This works for remote workers in the morning (outlets, quiet, ample parking, dog-friendly patio), families with kids who need a place to be while parents talk, and craft-beer drinkers who want a real pour in the afternoon. The trade-off is range. If you want a pure single-origin espresso program with nothing else competing for attention, this is not that. The roaster is one of several things happening in the room. Best fit for people who like that breadth and want a building that does more than one thing well.
