Curioso Coffee Bar: Northeast

Curioso's Northeast location has pinball machines. Pool tables. Jenga. A small kids' play area. The room is big and warehouse-shaped, sharing walls with a brewery and the Aki's bakery next door, with a food truck pulling weekend duty and a patio that opens onto the river. The partners still work the bar and roast on site, which is the kind of detail you only notice once you see them behind the counter. On a Saturday afternoon, expect noise. Regulars consistently flag the volume and the busy weekends. Lighting is good. The furniture is comfortable. Ramps run front and back. The space is built to hold people for hours, not to hush them. Bring a friend, bring a dog, bring an out-of-town in-law. Do not bring a laptop and expect quiet focus. The pistachio matcha gets the strongest write-ups, not too sweet, not too milky. The iced matcha latte goes heavy on powder over oat milk by default. Nitro cold brew is the espresso-skeptic's order. The ube latte and the mocha pull color and curiosity in turn. The London Fog handles the tea side, and the Organica is the order for anyone who wants chocolate without going full mocha. Pastries come from Aki's next door, which is the cleanest possible workaround for not running your own kitchen. Parking is the main caveat. The lot fills early on weekends, so plan to street park and walk a block. Outlets beyond the bar are scarce, so if you need power for a long stretch this is not the room. But if you want a place that will keep you and three friends entertained over coffee, a beer, a pinball table, and a river view, Curioso has built it on purpose. Dog owners get a patio that welcomes them by default. Clients meeting over coffee get a corner table that handles either coffee or a beer depending on the hour. The combination is the reason most regulars eventually become weekend regulars rather than weekday ones.
