About

Andrew and Ariana run the bar and the roaster. The couple's presence is the load-bearing thing at Daylily Coffee, a small Sioux Falls shop and roaster on East 8th, and the language that keeps coming back in the write-ups is the same set of words: warm, knowledgeable, family-run. That is the temperature the room takes from the people behind the counter.

The space itself is bright and full of plants, with a feel that lands somewhere between fun and laid back, and a relaxed enough pace that you can sit with a cortado for a while without getting the hint to move along. InFlower sits next door for gift baskets, which makes the block work as a small two-stop errand if you need a present and a coffee to drink while you shop.

The single-source ingredient sourcing turns up in nearly every category, from the bean to the pastries, which are handmade in house. The cortado is the drink the regulars order. The Vera Cruz is the other one to ask about. If you only have time for one item from the case, take a pastry to go with the drink, because the pastry program is part of what separates this shop from the standard cafe down the road.

This is not a quick large-volume run. Six drinks in to-go cups for a meeting is the wrong job for this counter. A single visit, two seats at the window, a cortado pulled by an owner who knows what they are doing, is the right one. Locals lean on it as a weekend habit. Visitors who land in Sioux Falls for a few days will figure out within one stop why the family-run framing keeps showing up. The ethical-sourcing tilt is not a marketing claim here. It is in the inventory, the menu and the cup.
