About Dispatch Coffee
Dispatch Coffee was founded in Montreal by Chrissy Durcak and started out unusually. In 2012 it was a single product, cold brew made from traceable, ethically sourced coffee and delivered by bike. In 2013 Durcak converted a Grumman van into Montreal's first specialty coffee truck, which became a fixture on city streets.
In 2014 Dispatch launched its own roasted beans and opened its first brick-and-mortar cafes, including one on the McGill campus. In November 2016 it opened its 1,800-square-foot flagship on historic Boulevard Saint-Laurent, the company's roomiest cafe, in the heart of downtown. The truck was retired in 2022.
Dispatch roasts to order with a focus on traceability and responsible business, often naming the producer behind each lot, as with a recent anaerobic coffee from Bryan Bautista in Marcala, Honduras. It ships across North America and offers subscriptions. For US visitors to Montreal, the Saint-Laurent flagship is the place to sit down with a cup.
