About

Driftwood roasts coffee in a small visible roasting room and serves kava and kratom drinks alongside the espresso menu, which is a setup that makes more sense once you sit down on the couch and watch the regulars come and go for an hour. Family-owned. Owner often on site. Rotating local art on the walls that turns over enough to give returning customers something new to look at. The strip-mall parking lot is shared with several other businesses, including a Crunch Fitness next door, so dedicated parking is not a thing here and you will hunt on a busy Saturday morning.

The room reads living room with the addition of more tables outside for the customers who want air. Eclectic art everywhere on the walls. Couches and tables inside arranged for comfort rather than turnover. Fast WiFi for the student and remote-work crowd, which is a real part of the customer base. The kavatenders, as the staff are called, run the kava side of the menu, and that side has its own regular base separate from the coffee crowd; the two groups overlap less than you might think. Kid-friendly. Dog-friendly. The kind of room that absorbs whatever you bring through the door.

What to order on the coffee side. The 14-hour brew coffee is the signature long-extraction move and the order to try once. Gianna's iced cortado with agave is named for the barista and worth asking for by name. Iced red velvet oat milk latte for the dessert drink that is more dessert than drink. Flat white for the standard order. Chai tea latte for the non-coffee morning. Cinnamon rolls and ham and cheese croissants in the case. A kava drink if you want to see what the other half of the menu is doing and have not had one before.

The honest notes are worth knowing before you commit to a long stay. Recent customer feedback splits on coffee consistency; some visits land, some do not, and the espresso is the part that swings. Vaping inside has been reported and at least one customer left over it, so if you need a no-smoking environment, ask before you settle in with the laptop. Parking is shared and can fill up. If those caveats clear, this is a couch-and-art kind of cafe where you stay longer than you planned to.
