Ember and Bean Roasting Co occupies one of those newer Oakdale buildings that some customers describe as hotel-lobby in feel, and that's an honest read. Bright, open, full of natural light. one customer found the space a bit sterile. Another described it as still cozy. Both are right, depending on which corner you sit in. There's a small tucked-away kids' area, the place is dog-friendly, and the seating arrangements give you options for solo laptop work or breakfast with the family.
The coffee program runs serious. The geisha blend is on the menu, pour-overs are part of the regular offering, and the baristas know what they're talking about. The breakfast burritos and sandwiches do real work too. Pork breakfast burrito, cheddar bacon egg biscuit, blueberry muffin. The Flower Power (espresso over sparkling water with citrus) is the drink the regulars order when they want something off the usual track. It's a small touch that signals the bar is thinking past the standard menu.
The natural light is the room's strongest feature. Long tables, plenty of outlets, and the kind of space that makes a two-hour work session feel comfortable rather than cramped. Dog owners have made it part of the routine because the layout works for that.
Parking is the practical hassle. The front lot fills up at peak, and the garage situation is confusing enough that multiple reviewers mention it specifically. If you're coming with a stroller or a dog, give yourself an extra minute to figure out where to leave the car. The garage is the kind of layout you have to learn once.
Once you're in, this is a strong spot for parents with kids, remote workers who want light and space, and dog owners. The breakfast menu earns the morning visit, the pour-over and the geisha earn the coffee-focused stop, and the Flower Power earns the curiosity order. Less ideal if you're hoping for tight, intimate corners. The room is built bigger than that, and the design choices push toward open space rather than the small-cafe coziness some customers prefer.
