Fetch Coffee Roasters donates a dollar from every bag of beans to dogs and cats in need. The branding is dog-heavy. Sploot beans, dog-themed interior, a Sellwood storefront with a living room couch facing the visible roasting facility in back. So it's awkward that dog policy has become a sore spot. Several recent visitors brought their dogs and were turned away, and the outdoor-order policy got enforced inconsistently enough that the inconsistency itself is the problem.

If you're bringing a dog, ask before you commit.

If you're not, the shop has plenty going for it. The Sunny Afternoon sugar cane process decaf is unusually good for a decaf and worth ordering whether you need caffeine or not. The seasonal lattes rotate well, the quad shot espresso drinks come out properly pulled, and the vegan options are real options rather than afterthoughts. Breakfast sandwich, iced Americano, matcha latte if you're avoiding coffee that morning. The menu rewards the second visit more than the first.

The room is cozy and expansive at once. Plants throughout, a small outdoor seating area in the walkable Sellwood shopping district, charging spots that are easy to find, and WiFi that holds up. It's a good remote-work post for anyone whose dog can stay home. The living room couch in front of the roasting facility is the seat to grab if it's open.

Sellwood itself plays into the whole experience. The shopping district is walkable, the morning light is good, and the cafe sits in a part of Portland that rewards slowing down. Fetch fits that block well enough that the dog tension feels especially out of place.

The charitable giving is real and the coffee is sharp. The branding-versus-policy gap is the thing the shop will need to fix or own. Either commit to dogs the way the marketing suggests, or stop selling the story. The cup deserves better than that contradiction.
