FreshGround Roasting

FreshGround Roasting is a specialty roaster in an office park on South Grove Avenue in Elgin, and Eric and his team run it. Beans are often roasted the day before you pick them up, and the lineup rotates through Honduras, Colombia, Guatemala, Sumatra and Ethiopia. They also offer subscriptions and wholesale.

On-site, get a pour-over. The Ethiopian, light or dark, is a good choice. For home, the Forte espresso is popular for cappuccinos, and there's a light Ethiopian blend. The team will help you match an origin to how you brew.

The shop is small and set up for buying beans, with very little seating.
