A gated industrial lot in New Lenox, no signage, a fence that makes you double-check the address. Once inside, Gost Coffee Roasters is a roastery with a Cars and Coffee event calendar, a pizza counter running fresh pies, a resident dog, and owner Daniel usually on site. The vintage Colorado coffee shop reference is real. Eclectic, funky, lots of local art for sale on the walls.
The drink list is more creative than the average suburban Illinois roaster. The dark chocolate cherry coffee is a house signature. The Karl runs half chai, half horchata, and is the order to try once if you've never had the combination. Cold brew with pistachio reads dessert but pulls clean. The oatmilk latte with peanut butter is the comfort drink. On the bean side, the Mexican blend and the Ethiopian are both worth a bag. The pizza counter is the side draw most people don't expect.
Outside, the patio is generous and well-used, especially during Cars and Coffee weekends when the lot fills with enthusiasts. Cozy corners inside hold the rainy-day crowd. The theming is consistent and intentional, which matters more than it sounds for a roastery that could have just been four walls and a roaster.
The regulars are car people during events, New Lenox locals during the week, and dog owners year-round.
A few honest things. The location is genuinely confusing on a first visit. The gated fence reads private property, and there's no street-facing signage to correct the impression. Music can run loud and explicit at times, which is not the right room for a meeting with your accountant. Drinks run $8 per cup, which is steep for the area and worth knowing before you order three.
Go for the pizza-and-pour-over combination on a slow afternoon, or come for Cars and Coffee and let the lot do the entertaining. Either way, give the address a closer look before you commit to the GPS.
