Gray Squirrel Coffee Company is a small-batch roaster in downtown Carrboro. The owner used to buy beans for Blue Bottle. It's airy, with maple tables, whitewashed brick, steel accents and a covered patio. Seating is minimal. There's no tipping, since living wages are built into the prices.
The espresso is smooth. The cortado (called a 1:1) and cold brew are favorites. Syrups are house-made, like maple and lavender. The menu is focused, with tea and house-made baked goods. Single origins and blends rotate.
