Greenwell Farms

Greenwell Farms has grown 100% Kona coffee on the Big Island since 1850, and the family's been at it for five generations. It's a working farm, and you can drop in for a free guided tour that leaves every 30 minutes. You'll go through growing, harvesting, processing and tasting.

The tasting area's outdoors under big shade trees, with picnic tables. You can sample a wide range of their coffees, from classic Kona roasts to flavored ones like the Macadamia Nut blend, and the staff will help you pick. The farm also grows black pepper, vanilla, cacao and tropical fruit.

They process their own coffee cherries on-site and supply beans to other roasters. You can buy bags at the farm store or have them shipped to the mainland. The store also carries chocolate-covered coffee beans, seasonal fruit and other local goods.
