Gunks Gaming Guild Cafe on Church Street in New Paltz has more than 400 board games. It's $5 per person for all-day play. Owners Rob and Amanda host MTG drafts, D&D, a Tuesday open mic and Thursday trivia. There's local art, a shaded patio out back with potted plants and free wifi. Ollie, the owners' dog, sometimes greets visiting pups.

The shaken espresso is the house drink, and there are lattes and seasonal drinks too. All the baked goods are vegan, including muffins and chocolate chip cookies. Avocado toast and smashed potatoes with fried eggs are the go-to plates. It's lively and family-friendly.
