About
Hale Coffee is an independent Toronto roastery started by friends and former roommates Ramzi Yanis and Khaldoun Toukan, who shared a love of specialty coffee and bought a roaster together. They began in a small space near Queen and Spadina. Today Hale roasts and serves coffee from the historic Clock Factory building in the Junction Triangle.
All of Hale's green coffee comes through direct-trade relationships with farmers, which the roastery says ensures growers are paid fairly. It roasts in small batches and sees teaching people about quality coffee as part of its mission. Toronto publications and coffee festivals have recognized it for both its coffee and its community focus.
Hale also helps other independent cafes get started, offering barista training, cafe management programs, and equipment sourcing and service. For a coffee traveler in Canada, the Clock Factory cafe is a good place to drink coffee right where it's roasted.
