Hexe Coffee Co. is in Roscoe Village, with a gothic, Victorian-style room of dark wood and candlelit corners, plus a big sunny patio outside. They roast in-house. The bourbon barrel-aged cold brew is their best-known drink, and the lattes are solid. Ask about the "Pretentious" series of beans.

The bakery's all in-house and changes often, with croissant experiments, signature skull cakes, moist scones and plenty of vegan and gluten-free choices.

There's lots of indoor seating, and outlets line the walls, though the wifi can slow down when it's busy. They're open later than many shops nearby, and there's a 3–6 pm happy hour with cocktails and local beer. You can buy beans in the shop or online, with nationwide shipping.
