About

The beans get roasted in a bourbon barrel for two months before they touch a brewer. That signature move produces the Bourbon Brown Sugar Latte, which is finished with a torch (like creme brulee) at the bar. Kingship is a Williamsburg shop that roasts on site, brews kombucha, brews beer, and runs all three programs at once.

The room is in a strip center next to a laundromat. A shop dog wanders inside throughout the day. Downtempo jazz plays. Warm lighting. Couches you sink into. The kind of place that reads cozy on first walk-in but has serious craft programs running behind the counter.

The drinks. Bourbon Brown Sugar Latte is the signature. Honeycomb (named drink). Pumpkin vanilla bean latte (in-house seasonal). Pumpkin chai. Mocha with oatmilk. Chai with shots. Hot chai latte. Regular brewed coffee. Then there's the kombucha. Pear-honey kombucha is the named one regulars buy in growlers, with a hard-kombucha selection alongside.

Syrups are made in house. Beans are sold bagged. The bourbon-barrel program is real (regulars have walked through the process with the owner). The store dog policy is real (well-behaved dogs welcome inside).

Lemon poppy seed scone. Molasses cookie. The food side rounds out the cafe portion. Pricing has come up in feedback as fair, not premium.

The customer base: Williamsburg locals and Colonial Williamsburg tourists, remote workers (free fast wifi has come up in a story about a hotel guest in a wifi panic who got set up with an extension cord at the cafe), dog owners, kombucha drinkers, nursing moms with dietary restrictions who got accommodated. The strip-center exterior is unassuming. Look past it. The bourbon-infused beans are the conversation starter most regulars use when they bring a first-timer.
