The prime rib breakfast sandwich is the move at little Lake Brewing. one customer remembered it five years after the fact, which is the kind of detail you trust more than any star rating. The kitchen scratch-makes the sandwiches and the pastries, and on a weekend morning by Conesus Lake the line out the door of this small Lakeville cafe is mostly cyclists, lake-house regulars, and people who already know what they want.
The space is small. Standing-room-only is the standard description for peak hours. There's an outdoor area used in the warm months for food and drink, which helps but doesn't entirely solve the seating problem. If you're a group of six looking to spread out, this isn't your room. If you're solo or with a friend and willing to wait for a small table or take it to the lake, you're in the right place. Cyclists riding the Finger Lakes loops have made it a steady breakfast stop, and the village feel reads through in the regulars who come in by name.
Order the prime rib sandwich, the iced coffee with coffee ice cubes (so the cup doesn't dilute on the ride out), and a blueberry scone for the passenger seat. The avocado toast holds up. The pumpkin latte in season is one of the things regulars time their fall around. The single-origin coffees lean toward hard-to-find offerings you don't see at chain shops, which matters if you've been driving the Finger Lakes hunting for a serious cup.
The scratch-made pastries are part of the reason the line forms. Breakfast sandwiches across the board come out of the kitchen rather than off a delivery truck, and that effort shows up on the plate. It's a village cafe doing village-cafe things at a level that earns the repeat business, and the prime rib sandwich is the proof of concept. Plan for a wait at peak. Plan for the iced coffee with the coffee cubes. Plan to be back.
