About

Maple Leaf is roastery only. The Roselle location on Irving Park Rd does not serve a brewed cup, does not run a kitchen, does not have a cafe to sit in. You walk in, you talk to Alex on the floor, you buy bags, you leave. That is the entire offer, and it works because the offer is honest about itself.

Alex is the differentiator. Knowledgeable, on the floor most of the time, willing to talk through options without rushing you toward the most expensive bag on the shelf. He will ask what you are brewing on at home, what you have liked recently, and point you somewhere specific based on the answer. That kind of consultation is the reason home brewers drive past several other shops to get here. The monthly coffee club subscription is where most regulars settle in once they figure out what they like, and the rotating selections do the work of expanding people's palates without making them think about it.

The light roast bags are the default starting point for people new to the catalog. Beyond that, ask Alex. That is what he is there for, and he does not make you feel bad for not knowing what you want. Pricing lands reasonable for specialty-grade beans, which in this segment is more than most shops can say. Bags get freshly roasted in-house and move off the shelf fast enough that the date on the back is consistently close to current.

What Maple Leaf is not: a place to sit down with a coffee. There is no espresso machine pulling shots for walk-ins, no pastry case to graze, no laptop seating. The room is built around bean retail and conversation. Anyone wanting a quick drink should keep driving. Home brewers who want to buy direct from a small roaster, talk to the owner about what they are getting, and walk out with bags they will be making at home for the next two weeks have found the right Roselle stop. The trip is the point.
