Nicholas Coffee & Tea Co.

Nicholas Coffee & Tea Co. has roasted coffee in Pittsburgh since 1919, when Nicholas C., a Greek immigrant, opened Nicholas Brothers Coffee on Market Street, largely selling wholesale to fellow Greek restaurateurs.

The business has survived two pandemics, three fires, the Depression and flooding, and is now run by the fourth generation of the family. The roasting facility designed by the founder still works in the shop. Its My Wife's Blend, created around 1950 by Gus Nicholas in honor of his wife Chrysoula, is still one of its most popular coffees. Nicholas also sells fine teas.
