Pitango Gelato & Coffee, The Wharf

Pitango at The Wharf is a gelato shop first, with espresso on the side. It's in the waterfront row of shops, and the outdoor tables look out over the water.

The Italian-style gelato is the reason to go. Pistachio is the headliner, and there's hibiscus, pomegranate, passionfruit, sour cherry, turmeric ginger, coconut and walnut. The fruit flavors are a good fit if American ice cream tastes too sweet to you. Get a large so you can pick three, and ask to sample. The staff don't mind. Fresh mint lemonade goes well with it.

It's an easy dessert stop on a walk along the Wharf, and a quiet weekday afternoon is a nice time to sit outside.
