About Primavera Coffee Roasters

Primavera Coffee Roasters is a family-owned cafe and micro-roastery in Cranston, Rhode Island, which opened in September 2026. Owner Luis Barrios came to Rhode Island from Guatemala City as a child. He and his wife and co-owner Melissa, who spent two years as a missionary in Latin America, built the cafe around "café, cultura y comunidad." The name means "spring," a nod to Guatemala's nickname, the land of eternal spring.

Luis roasts single-origin coffees from Guatemala and elsewhere in Central America on site, using a ventless roasting system. The espresso comes from a women-owned co-op in Huehuetenango, and the 24-hour cold brew uses beans from Antigua. Try the drinks with banana cold foam.

Melissa makes most of the pastries, including conchas, tres leches and Abuelita's Cookies. Savory options include a Guatemalan breakfast sandwich with frijoles and crema. The cafe at 1 Starline Way, off Plainfield Pike, has sofas, a mural and a kids' play area. It's closed Tuesdays, so check the hours before you go.
