About

Quiet Storm Roasters & Bakers sells coffee, cigars, and cocktails under one roof. That's an unusual combination and the operators know it, which is why the patio and sidewalk seating exists primarily for people who want to smoke. Inside, the music programming is strong enough that regulars notice it specifically, and there are plenty of outlets at the counter for laptop workers who don't mind the soundtrack.

The cinnamon iced coffee is the order people repeat. The Honey Girl Latte is the non-caffeinated option that gets reordered, the cortado is honest, and the blueberry muffin and quiche cover the pastry side. Banana bread too if you're in a mood. The food is supporting the drinks, not the other way around, which is the right call for the operation.

The owners are described as community-minded in a way that doesn't come off as a marketing tagline. The room has the staple-of-the-block feel that takes years of consistent presence to develop and is essentially impossible to manufacture. People know the place.

Some days the open windows let in a cold draft worth knowing about, especially in the cooler months. Layer up if you're posting up for a long session.

Brewed coffee can be hit-or-miss, which is honest to flag at a place that puts so much energy into the cocktails and the cigars. If brewed coffee is your whole reason to go, this might not be the right fit. If you want a cortado, a cocktail later, and a cigar in between, the package is unusual enough to be worth the visit.

Parking is street-only and metered, so leave time and a card. Once you're inside, the variety of people you'll see, daytime laptop workers, evening cocktail drinkers, cigar smokers on the patio, all sharing the same room without friction, is the actual appeal. Most cafes can pull off one of those crowds. Pulling off all three is the trick, and Quiet Storm has built the room around the trick. If the format sounds odd on paper, that's because it is. The execution is what makes it work.
