About

The owner is from Tanzania and the stated mission is to serve high-quality African coffee beans, with a slice of profits going back to support coffee workers on the continent. RichlandHub Coffee took over a former Starbucks on Main Street in Vancouver and turned it into something the corner did not have before. The Zanzibar Spiced Latte is the signature. The Zanzibar Masala Chai sits right next to it. African mandazi pastries and Chapati wraps fill out the food side, plus hot dog wraps with salsa dip and a cilantro lime sauce that people order with everything.

The space is a bright corner with large windows and natural light flooding in. The smell of coffee hits as soon as you walk in. Couches and tables in roughly equal measure, low enough volume to think through, a chill vibe that holds even when the room fills. Free drip refills, internet that holds up, the kind of place where remote workers settle in for the morning and stay through lunch.

The food side deserves more attention than it usually gets. Chapati wraps in this part of the Pacific Northwest are not common. Mandazi are essentially impossible to find within walking distance of downtown Vancouver outside of this shop. The cilantro lime sauce gets a kind of fanatical loyalty from regulars who pour it over everything.

Parking is the one practical note. Street only, free for twenty minutes, which means longer visits depend on the meters or finding side-street parking a couple of blocks over. Italian sodas are on the menu for the non-coffee crowd.

What sets this shop apart is the specificity of what it offers. African-inspired drinks and food you will not find within several blocks, made with intent, served in a space that feels purpose-built for the neighborhood it landed in. The mission angle could read corporate from a chain. Here it reads like the reason the place exists, and the room reflects it. Worth choosing over the dozen safer options nearby.
