Rwanda Bean Company: ROASTERY

Rwanda Bean Company's roastery café is at Thompsons Point in Portland. Mike runs it, and the coffee comes direct from Rwandan farmers. About half the profits go back to them. It's a brick building with big windows, high beamed ceilings and a patio, and it's a quiet, comfortable place to work in the evening.

The Bourbon Barrel Aged Nitro Brew is the standout. There's a dirty chai (espresso over chai) and a cold brew flight on tap. The dark Rwanda Bean is the bag to take home. Whoopie pies come in rotating flavors, and there are breakfast sandwiches, raspberry lemon poppyseed bread and banana bread. Hours have varied, so check before you go.
