Scrimshaw Coffee is in the College Area of San Diego. It's roomy and minimal, with seating inside and out, wifi and outlets. The music can be loud at busy times. Dogs are welcome. There's some parking in back and on the street.

The Vietnamese iced coffee is a favorite, and the house espresso is smooth. There are breakfast sandwiches, a lox bagel and pastries. Beans and whale-logo merch are for sale.
