Seven Seas Roasting Co. Solana Beach

Seven Seas Roasting Co. is a veteran-owned, farmer-direct roaster from San Diego. Their Solana Beach shop opened on Cedros Avenue in the Design District in 2023. The sign says Coffee and Ice Cream. Inside it's small and moody, with limited seating, and most people sit on the bright patio with the shop dog. It's more of a stop-and-chat spot than a laptop café, and parking can be tight.

The Candy Blast, a watermelon-fermented coffee served as an iced pour-over, is the headliner, and there are Geisha coffees too. The flat white is a good starting point. There's a chaga espresso, an iced dirty chai and cappuccinos. For food, there's avocado toast, a seasonal blackberry turnover and plant-based options. Amber, Andrew and Maria are the friendly faces at the bar.
