Bruce runs SilverStream Coffee Roasters out of an Airstream trailer in Cranberry Township. The service window is the whole storefront, and Bruce is usually the one at it. He gives bean samples. He recommends tweaks, including a thimble of half-and-half added to the cold brew that regulars now order on purpose. He'll personally walk you through an espresso shot if you want to talk shop, which is the part of the operation that converts curious passers-by into mail-order customers.

The coffee is roasted in house. A Dark Roast blend and a Brazilian dark roast are the bag offerings, and Bruce ships beans to mail-order customers who can't make it to the trailer in person. The trailer is the entire operation. In bad weather Bruce has been known to stay out at the window serving iced coffee orders to people who wanted iced coffee in November, which is the kind of detail that explains why regulars are loyal beyond what the drink alone would earn.

The fit is the customer who wants a personal relationship with the person who roasted the beans. The fit is the mail-order buyer who appreciates that Bruce knows what they like and which roast they last ordered. The fit is anyone willing to stand at a trailer window for a few minutes for a cup of coffee made by the owner who's been roasting it himself. Anyone looking for a sit-down cafe with a pastry case and a fireplace should pick a different operation, and Bruce would probably tell you the same thing if you asked.
