About

Solai Coffee is a coffee cart, run by Peter, tucked behind the Kaleidoscope building in downtown Orlando. It is open Friday through Sunday and not a minute more, which is the first thing to plan around. The team sources single-origin Kenyan beans and roasts them in small batches. That focus carries the program.

The salted caramel coffee and the brown sugar latte are the recurring orders. Bags of Kenyan whole bean go home with people who came for a drink and stayed for a conversation with Peter, who is usually pouring drinks and chatting with customers. The setup is outdoor, with seating in the back of the building, and the experience runs less like a cafe transaction and more like buying coffee from someone who roasted it that week. The single-origin focus, rather than a blend program, gives the bar a clear identity that most downtown carts do not bother establishing.

The constraint is the constraint. Weekend-only hours mean a Tuesday traveler will be looking at a closed cart, and a downtown worker hunting a weekday espresso will have to find another option. The atmosphere fits an unhurried weekend stop with good beans to take home. It does not fit a laptop session or a weekday morning routine. Treat it as what it is: a small, friendly, weekend-only Kenyan-coffee operation worth the detour. Peter pours the drink, you take the bag, and the whole interaction sits at the warmer end of what a small downtown coffee operation can be. For Orlando weekenders looking for something that does not feel like a chain, the cart behind Kaleidoscope is the call. Bring cash or cards, bring patience for the search, and bring an interest in talking to the person who roasted the coffee. The Kenyan focus is rare enough that a single-origin bar in downtown Orlando is itself a small story, and Peter is the one who built it.
