Marigold's retail shop is closed. That's the most important thing to surface up front, because the older internet listings still suggest you can walk in for a coffee and a bagel, and you can't. The Buckman Coffee Factory in SE Portland now functions primarily as a roasting building, with the women owners renting space to other local coffee businesses.
What made the shop notable when it was open: the Squirrel Rhapsody brew, espresso pours that earned their place, and bagels with veggie cream cheese that one older customer called the best in SE Portland. None of that is currently available to a walk-in customer.
The shared roasting facility is the operation now. Multiple local coffee businesses rent space, which means the building keeps a working coffee community alive even without a retail counter. If you're a wholesale buyer, another roaster looking for shared space, or someone curious about the back-of-house side of Portland's coffee scene, the building is doing real work.
It does not suit walk-in cafe visitors, because there is nothing to walk into. If you were planning a stop based on an old recommendation, plan elsewhere.
