The Crown: Royal Coffee Lab & Tasting Room

The Crown is the public tasting room of Royal Coffee, a green coffee importer, in downtown Oakland. Three coffees are on bar and rotate each month. There's an eight-tap system and a mobile bar called Naaga, built by Chambers Art & Design. Classes are offered too.

The Leila is an iced Americano with fig-ginger syrup, ume plum coconut whip and candied ginger. The Rosina latte is the milky pick. Espresso and pour-over flights are a great way to taste the lineup.

The room is design-forward, with a parklet outside and air conditioning. There's no wifi, on purpose, and mornings are busy inside. Dogs are welcome on the patio, and parking is metered.
