Unincorporated Coffee Roasters is in Altadena, near the Gabrielino Trail, and cyclists and hikers stop by a lot. It's bright and calm inside, and there's outdoor seating where pets are welcome.

Alan roasts in-house. The Quiet Prophet espresso is their signature, and they jokingly call it "the Mona Lisa of Coffee." The Ethiopian light roast has big blueberry notes. Paco's Delight is a house specialty, and the cold brew's smooth. Pastries, including a mascarpone treat and croissants, sell out fast.

They buy from small, sustainable growers at fair prices, and every bag has a roast date. Three Idiots and Maria Elena are the blends locals stock up on. They offer a subscription too.
