Hard chairs dominate the room, and the advertised wifi has been unreliable enough that regulars now bring a hotspot as a backup rather than rely on it. The staff memorizes orders, which counts for something in a part of town where most coffee comes through a window with no eye contact. The white chocolate mocha is the drink to point at. Fresh pastries and donuts rotate through the case, and the made-to-order hot sandwiches are the part of the operation that people forget about until they try one. The bones of the operation are good. The execution is uneven, but the beans are roasted in the back, which matters more than the chair situation. A roaster who also runs a kitchen turning out hot sandwiches is a rarer animal than the Monroe strip context would suggest.
