Wake sits near the SEPTA station in Ambler with a covered patio that doubles as a dog-friendly and kid-friendly outdoor area. Water bowls. Toys for the kids. The kind of place where a stroller and a leash both fit without anyone giving you a look. The patio is the differentiator and the reason families have made this their regular Saturday-morning stop.
The space inside is bright and calming, often crowded with laptop workers, and that is the friction. Coffice regulars can squeeze out casual visitors at peak hours, locking down tables for hours at a time. If you want a table, come early or take the patio. The shop has not done much to push back on the laptop crowd, which is a choice with consequences in both directions.
On-site roasting carries the bag program. The cortado and the cappuccino are the drinks to order if you want a read on the espresso. The Good Morning Wrap for breakfast. Mushroom toast if you want something heavier. Breakfast sandwiches across the morning, the kind of menu that handles a quick stop or a sit-down brunch without strain.
The honest note. Espresso quality has dipped according to regulars who have been coming for years. The shots that landed reliably a couple of years back are less consistent now. It is still a good cup. It is no longer the great cup it was, which is the kind of slow drift that happens at a lot of roasters when the bar team turns over and nobody recalibrates. Worth knowing if you are coming back after a while away.
Park at the Ambler SEPTA Station, which is free on weekends and a short walk over. Bring the dog. Bring the kids. Take the covered patio when the laptop crowd has the inside locked down, which they often do by mid-morning.
