The coffee flight is the move. Customers at What's The Buzz on Texas Avenue in Bryan have been known to order it twice in two days, which tells you something about either the flight itself or the staying power of a good idea. The format gives you several small pours side by side, which is how you sort out what you like rather than picking a roast off a chalkboard and hoping.
The Bryan location is the newer, more spacious build of the two What's The Buzz shops. The College Station sister location has a full kitchen and bakery instead. Inside the Bryan room, it is chill, open, and set up like a working remote-work space. Large tables. Outlets in reach. Wifi that holds. Ample parking, which is not a given in college towns.
The Thunderstruck latte is the named house drink. The cappuccinos are good enough that regulars buy bags of beans to recreate them at home, which is the highest-confidence customer signal a coffee bar can earn.
The whole-bean retail program is part of why the room works as a daytime base. You can spend three hours at a table, taste a flight, buy beans on the way out, and be set for the week.
The one common ask is for evening hours, which the shop does not have. The room closes earlier than students want it to, which is the trade-off for the daytime calm. No real outdoor seating either, so the patio crowd has nowhere to land.
If you are looking for an after-dinner hangout, this is not it. If you are looking for a daytime base where you can drink your way through a flight, work for three hours, and leave with beans for the home setup, the operation does that cleanly. The Bryan-College Station coffee scene is bigger than most outsiders realize, and What's The Buzz is one of the dependable anchors of it.
